What to Blog About?

What do you do when nothing seems bloggable, but you want to keep up the habit and not annoy the 1.24 people who actually look for your blog? You go stream of consciousness.

1. I was in downtown Chicago today and heard "Do you have 5 minutes to save a child", "Do you have a few minutes to save the environment?" Uh, no (how bad do you feel saying that???). I know it is a pitch to give money to worthwhile organizations, but I already give money to several with like causes, and then I wondered, how do I make decisions about who to give money to. I have several things I think about: Local organizations, education, children, women, health, oh and, yes, the environment. But there are a million of organizations that do that. Sometimes it's organizations that my husband and I agree on are doing a good job. Sometimes it's something that I learn about, and think wow, this is a cool project. Hmmm. Interesting.

2. How do people move on in their lives? Can we really let go of the past (and yes, we all have one) to embrace the future? Is there a formula? A prescription? Well no, better start watching Oprah again. Seriously, this isn't based so much on me, but just an observation, that embracing the future for anyone in any situation can be impossible without coming to grips with the past. Maybe it's being in my mid 40s, but it seems but the future holds so much promise, but it requires faith that it won't be the past, if that makes any sense. Which of course it won't, because we're all older and ostensibly wiser, so what is the role of the past?

Ok, I'll post again soon when my life seems bloggable.
