New York Doll is for real!

Ok, I play "recreational roller derby" (think park district softball). I have no intention of trying out for the Windy City Rollers, or the Outfit (the two Chicago derby leagues). I don't want to take any real hits, and believe me, I know my physical limitations. But I think it's cool that Derby Lite was able to register skater names. As you might know, we all have "derby" names like Go.2.Belle, Baubolicious, Kika Boom, Dyna-Mo, Queen B, etc. (my name is New York Doll, and there are a number of people who don't know me as Trina and only call me Doll), and the goal is that they should be unique, to reward and respect creativity and individuality. We didn't know that we were eligible to register our names, but upon submission, they were accepted. I feel so roller derby-ish.

Tonight I'm going to a parent social for my girls' school, so it's back to being Trina. But on the inside, I will remember that I'm Doll too. I like that.
