1. When I realized I couldn't reschedule my weekly workout time (weights for 30-40 minutes) I decided to do the workout and skate afterward.
2. I didn't turn around when I realized I had nothing to carry my car keys and phone in while I skated.
3. I decided I'd much rather grab up all my gear, plus food, plus water and drive 25 minutes each way, than just put on my sneakers and take a perfectly lovely walk.
4. I passed Oakbrook Mall, and heard the siren song of a department store that sometimes calls to me.
5. I didn't turn and go to Cost Plus, where I have been wanting to go for a couple of weeks.
6. I was willing to eat a really cruddy pbj on stale bread (I actually got an ok tuna wrap, talk about luck).
7. I didn't let my winter fears stop me (in my mind, the hills had grown, and the cracks in the asphalt were 6 inches wide....none of which was true). After 1 mile, I was confident and loving it.
7. I wasn't sure when I would get a shower later in the day.
8. I managed to ignore all the guilt about the myriad things I "should" have been doing.
It is a glorious spring day in Chicago, sunny and 70 degrees. I skated 5 miles! Not bad for my first time out this spring, after a strength workout. I can't wait to get back out again.
