I admit it, I am a What Not to Wear junkie. I've watched the original BBC series, I have the books, and now I've started watching the TLC version. I felt I needed a refresher. When my biggest chance to dress up is going to Pier One, it's hard to get excited about dressing well. And I have become more and more and more casual. Not to mention I don't like how my clothes fit me lately.
However, I have learned a TON from these shows and books. I started watching a while ago after having two pregnancies and two babies in 3 years and becoming extremely frumpy. As many (aka all women) know women have bizarre thoughts about our bodies. The show and books (if you pay attention) explain how to flatter what you've got and feel good about it. A good lesson, I think.
This is the first recurring theme on my blog. Figures it's about how we look vs. how we feel. Hmmmm.
Actually its the third posting on this topic. Can you say personal issue? Now there are two ways to address this. The first is retail therapy, not always a bad choice, especially if well thought out and in moderation. The second is to go find my fishnets (especially the ones with the rips in them), strap on a pair of knee pads, grab my helmet and feel powerful on skates. Maybe throw in a good booty block along the way. Now that's something you can't get in a store, or from a tv show. So while I still think about what to wear, I know I have this secret weapon in my body image arsenal: get strong, go skating. I like that.
